The Reflections of a TeenagerWhat the Headmistress Had to SayBy Ieuan DolbyI really don't know. My job used to be so simple you know, but recently it has all changed and certainly not for the better. The kids are uncontrollable and yet still so young and we as teachers seem to be losing so much of our reach to them! I have been involved in many a community program and children's charity, there are so many needy kids out there but equally as many who don't deserve any help. I'm not saying that the lad is one of the worst; he is polite and keeps his head down. But it's the parents you know, they don't spend enough time with their children always too busy working and if not in the office they are out partying! One family I knew used to send their children to stay with their Aunt every evening so that they could go out and play squash and tennis with drinks afterwards. Their children where completely out of order! Joey the younger one wasn't..........did you say something? My sincere apologies, you want to know about the kid that was smoking? Yes, a nice enough kid but obviously he is heading down hill on a one way street. I would like to do what I can for him as I work for various children's programs in this city and we have achieved a lot for some children. A few of the more serious cases have now been reformed through our programs and are either back at school or are old enough and working in a steady job. Our main program is called...........oh, yes the smoking kid! His mother is a nice woman, rather overworked with twelve children to look after - oh, that's not his mother? My apologies! Ah, that kid, so sorry I often get confused with so many children under my responsibility. Yes, I remember his mother now, nice woman, rather overworked but she just doesn't seem to have any control over her kids. It's often the parents fault you know that the children today are noisier and louder and more uncouth than ever before. They should be stricter and use the hand more often but with so many parents getting divorced they become so unsettled. I work for some charities that deal with ............... ....... my apologies what was the child's name again?
