2. Watching and Listening to CNNAn Opinion By Ieuan DolbyBush was re-elected isn't that, well, that's just KKKerm, what? For this last American election the turnout and interest of voters was exceptional, the reporting overwhelming and foreign interest at an all time high! A few poor souls in far away countries like "Iraq" were (amazingly) caught on camera saying that they hoped Bush would get elected for a second term! Whether they had been bribed, were in actual fact hostages of some confused Mullah or were guinea pigs for the countries blossoming drug lords is unknown at this time. The only good 'thing' about the recent election in America was that it overtook Iraq as the topic of the day and so CNN viewers were (for a few days) not blasted with endless opinions and explosive moments of Iraq, Palestine and well, Iraq and Palestine and for a bit of variety Afghanistan for twenty four hours of every day. It must have been very nice for many Americans to be able to switch on the telly and catch glimpses of American cities behind 'long faced' Kerry and patches of green grass under the bushes. Instead that is, of embedded reporters whose egos have recently shot through the roof and who now assume that without them the war would be lost! "I am here at the scene of what might be the final breakthrough". "KKKKK.and only a few moments ago KKKK.." "I have to speak quietly as not far away a group of potential terrorists are polishing their K.." But all good things come to an end and unfortunately the election is over, the shrubs have been replanted for another term and all that is on CNN is Iraq, Palestine and well, Iraq and Palestine. But a break in the clouds might not be far away. Tony Blair is coming towards his time under the spotlight and voters nationwide will have the chance to vote for him to be re-elected or.....hmmm! Maybe the turnout of voters in the UK will be at an all-time low - "Blair was this week asked to stay on for a second term due to a complete lack of interest from the British public. Turn out at polls , zero! Also, British reporters might not be available to cover the empty polling stations and the still dusty ballot boxes, they being too busy embedding themselves, crouching under tanks or clambering over rooftop's as bullets whiz past! "And today we have a special feature about voter's feelings in the Cotswolds by Jim Morris. Jim, can you hear me? Jim, are you there? I am sorry but we seem to have lost our connection to our man of the moment. Ah, some news just in: Jim Morris a British reporter has just been shot by an American Marine who mistook him for a suicide bomber!............." Yep, maybe CNN will not pause to cover the British Election after all! Ieuan Dolby The Copyright of all articles, photographs and drawings remains solely with the original authors.
