I spotted these massive apples in the supermarket the other day! They were gigantic and more akin to the size of a melon. They were also perfect in every possible shape and form imaginable; I am sure had they been cut open they would all have had the same amount of pips in each. Unblemished and with a very waxy gloss-finish they looked the dream of apple producers the world over.
By the by, what is all this talk about genetically modified food?
Looking at these apples of perfection I decided to buy a pound of the disgustingly blemished and differently shaped coxin' pippins next door, the ones with the terrible matt-finish. Then, whilst biting into the juicy interior of my natural product I wandered if eating one of those alternative apples of amazing perfection still goes with the saying "eat an apple a day keeps the doctor away"!
I have a feeling that it doesn't.
