The China Spiral
From Communism to riches for a few! From poverty to even greater poverty for others! As Shanghai grows ever bigger and higher, as Guangdong province squashes in more factories and as dreams get silly, the country moves along blindly without stirrups or bridle to guide!
The country is a freight train on a downhill slope with no brakes or driver to toot the whistle. The wieldy political machine and the old die-hard's say otherwise but under the surface there is no stopping this freight train and soon it will come off the rails.
Workers flock to the city by the thousands, many already arrived live in dire poverty or they work for not much more than bread and water. They work on construction sites that even the rats have shunned. And those who have made it rich, see greater riches! They delay or don't pay their employees (the worker has minimal rights), they pollute and destroy without compunction, they don't want steady long-term income, they want it right here and right now.
As China takes over the proud title as the biggest carbon emitter from America, as China continues to point hundreds of missiles at its arch enemy Taiwan and as the world pumps in millions to try and get billions out, the fish die, the plants wither and the trees give up hope.
The acid rain and the smog from China sweeps across the plains and sea to reach South Korea, Taiwan, and other countries. Yet they are not going to say anything too loud, tis all about money after all!
"Yes we have policies! We have an environmental policy and a health and safety at work one. Now where did I put them"!
