The Canada that is Home

There is a future in Canada! Wide open spaces, a relatively small population, a thriving economy and an excellent climate are attractions that has brought many immigrants and will continue to bring many more! And there is an excellent welfare system; from British Columbia to Quebec well-educated bums and stiffs live comfortable and well-fed livelihoods! Even the need to beg has diminished as the state gives them so much!

Tis not all good; 16 year old's can drive cars, in some states not after dark and not with other children as passengers but ........ traffic can be horrendous! To get home from work in downtown Montreal might take an hour or it may take two and home is only a few miles down the road. And then some Canadians speak with American accents and tend to be brash, loud and annoying in nature, some speak with French accents or in French and tend to be rude!

But amongst the throat clearing and political "speak" there are many welcoming fires, some in the form of barbecues and others to keep the minus thirty degree temperatures from invading the home! A stranger is mostly welcome, a future can be had and with the low cost of living, excellent food and green surrounds all Canadians are proud of the country that they can call their own.

"Hi, my name is Terrance and I am a self-indulgent tramp who sleeps on a park bench in summer (in winter I stay with my girlfriend because it can get a wee bit chilly outside). Can I read you a poem for a cent or two sir"?
