The Nightmare at the Airport
The Airport, the nightmare of travelling that can be worse than the plane journey itself. Some airports get it right. Changi Airport in Singapore for instance were streamlined people flow, good shopping and a relaxed atmosphere makes any stay an enjoyable one. And then there is Paris, a stifling hot airport that prides itself on long queues, staff who clip nails and make phone calls before attending to customers and were delayed flights are more common than those on-time!
In this era of heightened security awareness, queues, disgruntled businessmen who somehow assume that they should be exempt from taking their shoes off and irritable security officials who bark instead of talking do not help to make airport stays any happier.
And then there is Heathrow where serious walking is a necessity to get from one terminal to the next! Shame on you Heathrow! You give pregnant mothers, families with children and the aged the need to walk miles! 30 minutes you say and not a wheelchair, not a pram or person available to provide solace in the journey through hell!
No wonder people choose to transit in Amsterdam Schipol Airport if they can! It is streamlined and takes no longer than ten minutes to get from one flight to the next!
