The Europe that I know

A melting pot of cultures, a snake pit of wills! Europe is an amazing place and steeped in history as far back as the quill can remember! Through the poorest to the richest, across rivers of religion and ideological divides a show is made of political togetherness that neither Europe or the rest of the world believe in. Behind that curtain of solidarity and away from the Capitals and big cities of badly poured concrete are people who neither know or care about what they cannot see.

A German beer fest, a Welsh Esteddfoth, a Spanish bull fight and the Scottish Highland Games are for te tourist! Windmills, Sauerkraut and Haggis, these are what normal lives revolve around and despite the endless dances outside between European politicians, the true Europe is that which can be found in the hearts of those who neither care nor want to know about anything that is further than the end of the road, strasse or avenue!

The Americans dream of visiting Europe although many still think that Paris is one of the Hilton Hotels. The Japanese like to bring their cameras but often wander why Edinburgh castle was built so close the railway station and Australian's like to regain their roots by taking jobs in pubs and living in dormitories with hundreds of fellow Bruce's and Sheila's!

With or without a European Union the people of Europe will always be European, known for their individuality, their differences and varied cultures. This is what makes them positively stand out from the rest of the world! Europe may be a gathering of like-minded countries under one roof, but Europeans will never allow their cultures to be destroyed or merged, they are miles apart and thankfully so.
